Previously, they were a small, quiet city that anxiously awaited December to earn their income from local Johannesburg burgers, and then relax for the next 11 months of the year. All local businesses used to prepare for a month. Now the central business offices have moved to Umhlanga and the world wants to know about this place. They have several important shopping centers, restaurants have sprung up everywhere. Now there is a whole world within Umhlanga and very often you think of accommodation on the north coast, you think of accommodation in Umhlanga. Not surprisingly, Umhlanga has become a world tourist attraction.
In the midst of all these commercial developments, the area is still blessed with the beauty of the ocean. It is wild and virgin. Beautiful endless days of sun all year. The strange wind can take you off, but what is a visit to the ocean without wind? At least it's fresh.
